CCC mission... accomplished.
it's all kat's fault, my fellow dessert-tripper ;). upon 1st glance at the levain bakery website, i was immediately obsessed. i needed to fill this chocolate chip cookie void fast, so we embarked on a mission to the UWS... to seek possibly the holy grail of chocolate chip cookies: the chocolate chip walnut cookie from levain bakery.
notice the massive size. i bought 4 total (not all for me) and swear my left arm is stronger now just from carrying the bag.
the golden brown color and the wonderfully crispy texture perfectly complement and contrast the inner warm, soft, buttery, doughy goodness and the gooey-ness of the chocolate chips. the walnuts added a nice extra crunch and richness. notice the nice shine of the melted chocolate.
almost 2 hours into my cookie--yes, it's that big, and i'm a bit of a slow eater. i was multitasking at the time--typing and mouse click efficiency is significantly reduced when i have to keep wiping my hands with a napkin, so i had to finish it off with a fork.
OMG. a life-changing chocolate chip cookie experience. all i have to say is that the bar is set, PRETTY FREAKIN HIGH. possibly the best chocolate chip cookie. ever.
also, notice my apple in the background. unfortunately it didn't do too well this week vs. other desserts with a record of 1-4. poor guy.
so my final verdict: A++++++++++++++++++. and there will be a return visit to levain. MOST DEFINITELY.
check it out. you might see us there.

simply... simple. even for a quick second.
i love the simple things. as we know, life doesn't fall into that category.
we often get so consumed and involved in the daily task of our everyday lives--the constant movement and the go-go-go mentality than continually pushes us, so much to the sad notion that we cant even take a second to breathe. it's those precious seconds that are worth an eternity, to take a step back, see and appreciate what's around you and where you are. i suggest that in those seconds, BE A KID.
kids are so lucky and have it so easy--the care-free and play-all-day mentality is part of their mission objective: TO HAVE FUN.
so.. marshmallows in your hot chocolate, a knock knock joke, sprinkles on your cupcake, a high-five in the middle of the day, or making a paper airplane and throwing it... for a few seconds, give it a try.
your world becomes a little playground... and like the jar of peanut butter on my desk. simple.
ingredients: peanuts, salt.
hmm.. how about a PB&J with the crusts cut off? i know someone who makes them the best. :)

space.... invaded.
one of several we spotted this past weekend.
i started noticing these during my LA design school days... and then started noticing these everywhere i went--seattle, vancouver, vegas, philly, nyc and everywhere in between. the beautifully designed colored tiles depicting the simple pixelated aliens from the classic late 70's video game always seemed to catch my eye, even with all the visual clutter of the urban landscape. it was like playing a game of I SPY... and i would sometimes win.
so keep on the lookout. he just might sneak up on you.
space invader is his name... invading spaces is his game.

public service announcement... from a ninja.
sent from my sis. a special public service announcement....
or an ultimatum?
don't be fooled by the sassy side ponytail, cute button eyes or fingerless hands... she's likely to give you 99 beatings before you hit the ground! HI-YAH!
please recycle.
